PMTR Advanced procedure Q's
In Pace makes the Race, Advanced procedure's chapter, it has the B4, best 1/4, B2 best 1/2, and also a current number for these. Is there something in RDSS that has any relation to these numbers, current and best. Where could I find the description of the abreviation's in the program, that might answer my Q's... Thank you... Chrisl

Hello Ted
Hello Ted: It is the 2nd edition, Hambleton and Schmidt. It has nothing in it from Pizzolla. Page 81, Advanced Procedures by Hambleton. Being a very infant student os Sartin, pace,This might be something very old, but it seems to me, to be a way of checking a horse's current form. I was just curious if in RDSS is there something simaliar to this..Thank you again for all your support.. Chrisl

Chris,
Got it. No there's not the same quarter mile TPR style analysis in RDSS (or its predecessors): the EPR rating rates the 2nd call (4f in sprints, 6f in routes). Sounds a lot like the kind of Match Up analysis Richie and Hat discuss. You can certainly add a Q1 analysis for measuring variance of last race from best race by using the Velocity screen F1 column where best and last are clearly marked. You can also use the colour coding to get a visual of how well it performed over a period, over what surfaces and against what pace (some colour = good race/in form; no colour = bad race/off form unless a move is shown or ran evenly against a good PoR comapred to today's likely pace). I'll study that section a bit further - never read the 2nd Edition of PMTR very closely, but I know that Tom Hambleton became very interested in form cycle analysis following the 1st Edition of the book and 'the parting of the ways', so this procedure seems quite in keeping with that focus. Thanks for bringing it to attention - keep us posted if you find success with it. Ted
