Under sung heroes - Pace and Cap

There is a very disturbing video on You Tube of a race from Arizona where a horse lost the rider at the start, wheeled and came back around the other way to hit head on into another going full speed. Both horses died and the rider was seriously hurt.

Saturday we had a similar thing almost happen. A maiden threw the rider out of the 6.5 chute and the confused horse took a left turn going the wrong way around. We have some of the best out riders around (MOST of them young ladies too!) and the lead rider took off and captured the frightened animal before any harm was done. She was
amazing in knowing just to take the animal to the outside fence and wait patiently as the field came around rather than doing anything else. We have great gate crew people!
