Woodbine Saturday Sept 7 - KEY Horse Workshop

Hello everyone - in today's Study Group meeting, we decided to challenge our KEY horse selection skills by everyone working a common set of races just to identify a KEY horse.

We chose Woodbine Saturday Sept 7.

We will all work this card of races and identify the Key horse for each race. Feel free to place your KEY horse selection for each race in this Thread. In the next Study Group meeting on Thursday Sept 12, we will review each of our results and learn more about refining the decision process.

Of course, feel free to identify the Companion horses you also chose and the results you got - but we're focusing on Key selection for starters (Companion identification can be the subject of a similar, later exercise).

My charming and erudite wife Alison makes one interesting point - the tools used, the decisions made to come up with our respective Key selections should all be things mentioned in the 'How to find the Key' tutorial video! Otherwise, students of the video will not have all the tools. If we identify any repeated decisions we make (probably nuances) which are either not included at all in the video or are not explained clearly enough - we should add them.

Not saying there are any such omissions - but if we're critiquing the Key Video tutorial - we should check our presumed knowledge.

Also - we agreed to all use the same Config settings (i.e. all Default settings) -

• 50% DTV
• use TrackMaster ITV
• Default Mode
• Range of DTV -15 ... +15
• Max Races = 10
• NewPace uses TrackMaster SR

Folks, if today’s Woodbine card has many Turf races taken off the turf like yesterdays, instead – let’s work Gulfstream instead.


As of 11am Eastern – there are no Woodbine changes reported though weather still might be a little unsettled. The last update was at 5am

Gulfstream reports no surface changes as of 10am Eastern

Good morning, Gentlemen. I did both tracks and picked my Key horse and companion horses. (I always pick 4 but don't always use that many. It depends on field size and odds.)
There are several races with lots of horses with few lines and a couple of Chaos races. So some of my picks are shaky at best.
