Pace Duel Early
I always here there will be a Pace Duel Early, and have a hard time finding out who it will be. I usually look at running styles and segments for this information, but I don't always get it right. When, I hear talk of the Pace duel it seems like the 2 dueling horses should be easy to detect. When there is a duel, I have trouble with who will survive the duel. Who has the energy to survive and who will benefit from the duel.
I also hear there will be "no pace" in a race. Is that just like saying there are no early horses in this race. If so how do you handicap that. Thanks for any help |

position and fast pace of race
hello person
Look how a horse runs its plus races. Mark your running styles. Check out the pace of race. Now see what position the horse needs to be to run a plus race. A paceless race is a race were no horse wants the lead. The thing is there always is a horse in every race who has the lead. This leads to confusion for the lead horse and a slow pace of race. Now to answer your question about pace duels and who will survive ? I suggest you read the match up Hat check forum and The RDSS Teaching Forum FTL works hard to teach this very subject, He just posted a very good race, http://paceandcap.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=62 I suggest reading all about contenders and pace lines. before you expect the software your using to tell you who will win a early pace duel. OK, Line1 is checked and that was the one used. It is a move down in class. He came in 2nd on 1st and 2nd call. His running style is a E and EP.
I would have picked line 2 is shows more of his form as a EP. He was E at 1st call and a EP at 2nd call, and a SR rating of 72, and drop in class. The only choice is line 1 or 2 they are claiming races. The rest are Maiden Claimers and as I understand are not the idea line to use. The question is " What did Charlie run against the fastest pace of the race. I took that. as 'What pace line did he run. I looked up the race and Charlie ran wire to wire and running style was an E. He ran close to the 3rd and 4th pace line. The 4th line was the better line with Total Energy of 167.2. I would have picked line 2, if I did not have the results. Thanks for taking the time to help, I have been reading the posts you suggested, and have been since I started on here about 4 or 5 months ago. Thanks again for you help. |

try
Hi
Thanks for the nice words You have looked at Run Charlie Run a different way then I had intended. I just pulled up this horse because I happen to have been working on my Parx DB when you asked the question, Quote:
Can you give that another try? Here is another horse, Acopandproudofit I think this one is a little easier, Which line did Acop run against the fastest pace of race |

Yes, I do want to know the pace of the race.
OK, Acop shows the fastest pace of all his races is in line 2, at 2nd call or F2 he ran 22.0 and 45.0. (the small number next to the time of each fractional time is in 1/5 or 1/10 of a second?) with a finish time of 1:10. The pace was fast up to the 2nd fraction and slowed down on the 3rd fraction. Line 1 has a faster finish time 1:09.6, BUT, the 1st and 2nd fraction were slower. Line 2 is the Fastest Pace |

That is it
That is what you need to do.
You have it correct as far as the 2nd line. I showed the POH POR numbers from RDSS. so if you happen to use RDSS this is a good guide,These are the total energy numbers and these are adjusted numbers. Some comments, Acop ran a 22 first fraction and a 45 second call We know this because Acop was the lead horse that triggered the timer at these calls. But Acop ran a 23 second fraction. The second fraction and second call are 2 different read outs. So now you know which races in a horses PP's are faster pace of race than others. Now that you know this, now you can see how a horse runs its plus races. You can also see what happens based on the pace of race when it runs a zero. There is lots more about this in the pace line and Red match up manual. Bill |
