Here's an interesting race

Yeah, so it's the Holiday Season and rather than focusing on handicapping, I'm swamped with work.

But here's something that stood out.

SA, R6

#5, Resplendently, is stretching out to TWO turns after making a HUGE run sprinting, 1st time out. He's 2nd choice morning line.

The chalk, morning line, is #4, Mayor Marv, who dueled for the lead in a route that went 2-1-3-4 around the track and is cutting back 1/16th today.

And there are a bunch of 1sters in the race.

Take the 5 to win BUT not as the chalk.

No Go. Very poor 4th. 8% trainer nullifies a strong late kick with a stretchout.

Next

R7, #3, Accopela Choir, to run them down late.

I think the leader getting pulled up before the turn completely changed the complexion of the race.

Here's why SA, and southern cal racing in general, (other than DMR) is a JOKE:

they've stopped showing the headon of the backstretch in the replays; so, when a horse gets pulled up, as in this race, there's no way of knowing if horses behind it were bothered. Way to save on tape!!!

These 'types' of moves actually do win. For example, today's 4th at AQU. The difference, probably, is that this horse had routed before, while the one at SA was starting for the 2nd time and stretching out.

On the other hand, the trainer of New Bay, the only other horse in the race to do any kind of running in the lane, but no where near as impressive as Resplendently, came back today and won going 7F at 9:2. As in, ONE TURN. Spot them correctly and they get the job done.
