Pattern Match

Churchill Downs, 6th race, #7 (Buckeye Buddy)

Had some time last night so I jumped ahead and Hcp'd one of my favorite types of race- Turf! They're ripe with confusion and offer the possiblity of truly large payoffs.

I break down bets into three general catagories; silly, stupid, and good. Have pretty much eliminated all silly bets, still get involved in some really stupid ones, however bet and cash enough tickets on good bets to survive and prosper.

Win or loose, this is a good bet. Buckeye Buddy's form is a nightmare, however pattern matchs often trump form. Using the pattern match line, RDSS gives him good numbers.

If you're interested, see if you can find the pattern match?

The horse is 15-1 on the morning line, And that's what he looks when you only note the obvious. This will be a Win & Place bet for me. No exotics this time.

I did my part, now it's up the horse.

Regards,
Chris

From the paddock simo room - good for you.

A lot of ways to look at this race. The elements that I focussed on were the dates of his last win - at Churchill, and on the Turf. Today he's 2nd off a 5 month layoff. His last win was 2nd off a 6 month layoff.

His numbers are a little heavy on the early for a turf win, and he'll need things to break his way, balance that against 15-1 morning line (I believe it will be higher, if the crowd gets onto it, I don't have to bet) and we have the ingredients of a good bet!

Here we go,
Regards,
Chris
