Kentucky Draw Final Update
#1 Jazil
#2 Steppenwolfer #3 Keyed Entry #4 Sinister Minister #5 Point Determined #6 Showing Up #7 Bob & John #8 Barbaro #9 Sharp Humor #10 A P Warrior #11 SweetNorthernSaint #12 Private Vow #13 Bluegrass Cat #14 Deputy Glitters #15 Seaside Retreat #16 Cause to Believe #17 Lawyer Ron #18 Brother Derek #19 Storm Treasure #20 Flashy Bull The reason I am posting this is to get any input on who drew good and who drew bad post positions in your opinion, or if post positions are not important to you those comments are also appreciated. The horses that I have been looking at closely in the Derby Brother Derek at #18 am not really crazy about. I feel better about the posts for A P Warrior #10 and SweetNorthernSaint #11. I would have preferred Point Determined # 5 to be outside the speed, but at least it is not the rail. |

It really does not matter though you will hear that Post Position is so important. The run to the first turn is long enough for a competment jockey to position his horse wher he needs him to sit. The spooky piece is more related to the trouble the first turn causes or creates. The race can be won or lost here.

Dap, would agree with you as trouble in the first turn could wipe out some horses chances. With a 20 horse field you just have to hope that your horse does not get involved in any traffic problems.

So much depends on if it will be a dry day and what the grounds crew does. My bet is they will scrape it to near base and be ready to seal it if its going to be real wet. From here (WED) looks like its going to be just perfect with maybe a shower or two Friday. With that guess my top four today are, #11 Sweetnorthernsaint, #18 Brother Derek, #6 Showing Up, and #4 Sinister Minister, not exactly in that order.
