I've never have believed weight or post position is a valid handicapping factor. Post position may influence the start due to their specific ESP however the best horse still wins and true ability over comes. Jocks are more of an influence as they get horses in trouble and run them against what their proven ESP is. Many times by the SC your aware that a jockey is running a horse against its ESP and the horse is doomed to failure.
