That is interesting....I did some research on Poly and found that it is comprised of silica and fibers covered with a wax coating that allows water to drain vertically. This results in a SOFTER and consistent racing surface which has improved the safety of both the horse and jockey. I knew the purpose of Poly was to prevent breakdowns but never went past that.
Then if Poly and Turf are truly comparable I believe it is due to the SOFTER surface of Poly.
