Also besides the ridiculously short fields. One thing I have noticed is races for male horses must to be roughly 90% geldings

Where are all the horses suppose to come from?

Cal racing is all about making Owners and Trainers happy NOW

It is becoming clearer all the time. The owners and trainers realize the end is near for Socal racing. So they geld every horse for an advantage.
Then they keep the fields small so everybody gets paid.

Since the track, the trainers and the owners all seem to want only to win now
it is inevitable

It would be interesting to see the betting handle broken down between on and off track. Going to the track is a social event for a lot of those attending SA and Del Mar. Short fields aren't going to affect those people as much as it will turn off the simulcast bettors who have many options, and don't care about the food and the drinks and the sun shine.
