I've posted this before, but I'll post it again.

As everybody knows, favorites win 33% of all races year in and year out. Add to that the fact that almost 60% of all winners pay 5/2 or less.

This means those playing two horses and throwing out the favorites and/or low odds horses are going to lose 12 bets out of 20, ASSUMING they are good enough to win the other 4 races, which, of course, they won't. There are always those races where you chose wrong from among your contenders or a horse wins that is not among your contenders.

Seems to me that one needs to be considerably more selective in the low odds horses they BET AGAINST!
Seems to me you need to have a very good idea that the low odds horse(s) CAN BET BEAT! Not because you want to beat them, but because they CAN BE BEAT!

"BLINDLY" throwing out low odds horses seems like a recipe for disaster.
