My late wife aided me in the understanding of photoplay plots and collected over 5000 old movies. She could tell you the set decorator, the screenplay writer, the sound editor or casting director (she thought that was a position that should be awarded an Oscar) on most of the old ones of the 40's and 50's. She could quote, line for line, scene after scene from old movies and we used to use that as a second language when we wanted to keep an idea secret from those around us. If she said "Thye're the two busiest people is this whole county" (a line from Junior Bonner Ida Lupino to Steve McQueen) I knew she was telling me that someone was "uppity."

We first saw a VCR at the House of the Future at Disneyland back in the mid 60's and she sat down and wrote me a list of 120 movies she wanted. Once we got a machine in 1978, it took us until 1992 to get the last one on the list McClintock.

She could see a new movie and twenty minutes into it, she would make me stop the tape, scribbled something on a piece of paper and then AFTER the movie, she would have written the essence of the plot right there. She would do it 8 out of 10 times and it just astounded me.
