I think depending on the race track for profits is a slippery slope at best unless you personally have a substantial track record of being able to do so.
For me personally, I was a winner the last 2 years but in no way do I think that somehow translates to a dependable income if the economy tanks. Of course, I am not a full time player nor do I aspire to be at this point in my life. Perhaps the years losing prior to winning the last couple have jaded my opinion some.
In addition, I agree that a positive mental attitude is helpful, especially when you experience losses that you attribute to things out of your control. However, thinking you will win, and actually winning over a long period of time are entirely different.
