Bill,
I was at one seminar at the Desmond Americana (Albany), was it 1995? There were several chartered buses which took the whole gang (100+) to Saratoga on the final Sunday of the weekend, where we had several tents on the grass behind the grandstands where many of the seminar participants sat at long tables working their races. I remember Doc and Jim for sure, Dick Carter (Tom Ainslie) sat with Alison and me and we all compared notes as he was just getting into Sartin stuff at that time. I can't remember who else was there (the memory mixes multiple seminars together).
Tom, I don't think we were ever introduced, but I think I recall you from a few seminars (e.g. Toronto).
Howard would wander among the different tables like a ringmaster and folks would show him readouts or Racing Forms or winning (or losing) tickets. My recollection is one of all of us sitting together, working together - it was a part of the seminar. Undoubtedly some went off by themselves to concentrate.
I don't recall if it was Albany, but once Glen Conolly sat with me and a couple of others and worked an upcoming race on someone's portable computer using PaceLauncher, which he liked. Absolutely the teachers would be at the mercy of attendees to work races, or deconstruct races during non-lecture periods.
I only went to Saratoga once, but I'm ready to go back! That, plus the half dozen other seminars we went to in the 90's are among our fondest memories.
Ted
