Class Still Matters

Oaklawn Race #7 - Honeybee Stakes Grade 3

#3 Rose to Gold - 5-1 at post time - my bet
#8 Flashy Gray - 2-5 at post time - the favorite

In this race Rose to Gold, the only horse in the race who has won a graded stakes, no other horse has, shows a clear class advantage.

Flashy Gray pounded down to 2-5, optional claiming winner, trained by William Mott, ridden by Mike Smith.

If you factor class into your handicapping and believe class still matters this was a no brainer bet.

#3 Rose to Gold paid $12.60 to win

Agreed, and good point! The #8 Flashy horse had no business (IMO) being bet down that much, given no proven distance experience and nowhere near the level of competition. What did it have to warrant such favouritism - Bill Mott and Mike Smith?

The horse still runs the race.

Ted

I did run it on RDSS2 as well, it just confirmed how good a wager it was. I love it when the betting public makes a major mistake on high profile trainers and jockeys, it just inflates the odds for the remaining contenders.
