Risen Star Stakes

Having missed the 8th race at the Fairgrounds I thought I would try to handicap the 9th at the Fairgrounds trying the best I could to apply the Match-Up in this race. I kept on coming back to the #12 Notional as a primary win contender. I was not excited about the favorite #5 Circular Quay winning this race. Did not have the time to work the race in Energy or Thoromation so I put a small win bet on #12.

First impressions or "gut feelings" are important and as Richie and others have stated should not be ignored. I think it is about pattern recognition and the feeling that you have worked a race like this before.

There is abundant evidence of what you relate to here in two good works: 1) Blink by Malcolm Gladwell and 2) Powerhunch by Leland Kaiser PhD.

Have Blink, and I will check on Powerhunch. Appreciate the information.
