Putting in false contenders
If you have a early speed horse that you figure can hurt the other early
horses but feel is a non contender will you still put them into the computer. |

I've been meaning to ask this too. In RDSS I'll do a run with and without the runner you're talking about to try to notice who gets helped or hindered by him. |
If your doing the Match Up visually I would say yes consider it. If using the program I would say toss it.
The reason for this is the adjustments for the visual aren't there and few actually do these steps. "The Hat" when doing the Match Up did do track to track adjustments and a variant adjustment, some of his Voodoo Magic. When using the program, track to track and variant adjustments are made, also the 3rd FR is adjusted. The horses with these adjustments and ToT. Energy will overcome the cheap speed of a non-contender. These cheap speed non-contenders notoriously have very weak 3rd Fr or very high Deceleration. Where I might also consider a non-contender with much Early Speed is if their cutting back in distance. The cutback will mean lesser Deceleration and a better 3rd Fr due to the cutback, also this depends where the sharp deceleration took place. Whether at the stretch call or later. This really is a situational thing and your procedure. Mitch44 |
