Breeders Cup

Question - is there any money to be made in the Breeders cup? I would imagine the better the field the less value there is.

On a side; I'm not too keen on Keenland.

Its a great two days

There is a ton of extra money in the pools at the Breeders Cup

Not only that there is much more money at all the tracks those days.

Some of my biggest wins have come on Breeders cup days
but I am not betting those races, I'm betting Parx. But the crowd your betting against is pouring in money for all the tracks while they wait for the next big race.

Reputations are made and lost during the BC event, but big prices are more the norm than the exception, what with all the unknowns from the Euros. But perhaps the most overlooked aspect of this race event is that if you are running in these races you are either coming off a best ever performance or are ready to run back to your best ever outting.

You still have to compare racing styles and positioning but matching up best performances can get you some really nice prices, IMHO.

That is how I will be looking at this year's Breeders Cup. Remember, you don't have to bet every race!

I always look forward to Breeders' Cup! As the Bills say - lots of money in play, not all of it well informed.

Presume that horses are always well intended and ready to run. I have always found that RDSS does a pretty good job in high class races, perhaps because they do run so formfully and the analysis does a pretty good job of ranking horses. Combine that with the fact that some horses are bet NOT on their matchup and energy disbursement merits, but rather on jockeys, trainers, reputations however acquired - and you frequently get good prices on horses which figure quite well. Of course, there is always the Euro confusion as Bill L says, and I usually don't have a good way to measure that (unless the horse is named Goldikova ...)

I moved this thread to the 2013 Breeders' Cup (Friday) Forum.

Looking forward to it again - only a week away now.

Thanks guys.

While on the subject; do you keep horses in a virtual stable (be it pen and paper or otherwise)? Do you track their races and how they have faired against others (for the given race & class)?

I thought it was this weekend, tnxs Ted.
