Saturday 11/19 Stakes
 

Here are a few stakes races from around the country today. Using best of last 3 races surface/class (my interpretation of) and default settings on Rdss2

Going to show Segments screen and list V/DC tiers horizontally like this:
1 / 2,3 / 4 / 5 where the 1 is v/dc #1 - tie with 2,3 for v/dc #2 - 3 is v/dc #3 etc.

Bill and I would have our friend Joe (The Beard :)) work races and write them down like this. Then he would go off and find value and bet win, exactas etc
We had good times back in the day at the Meadowlands.

Here is Aqueduct's 6th on the grass:
V/DC - 3 / 1,9 / / 7,4 / / 6

Aqueduct's 8th going 9f on the dirt:

V/DC - 4 / 3 / 1,5 / 2 / / 6

This is Churchill's 9th going 9f on the grass:

V/DC - 6 / 3,8 / 2 / 4 / 1

This is Delta's 6th going 8f for half a million clams :)

V/DC - 5 / 3,9 / / 6,7 / / 2

Here is Delta's 7th running for a million smackers going 8.5f on the dirt

V/DC - 6 / 1,3 / 4 / 2

Automatic bets = any Tier THREE longshots ( re Doc writing about the "power of three" for longshots)

Here's my interpretation of Aqueducts 6th race.
The Pace should be Fast 1. Being a turf race, I would look towards
the strong sustained runners. I like the (4) & (8).
If I play both and I'm right, It would be a nice price. If I'm wrong, oh well.

Doc always said that V/DC should be looked at as TIERS and NOT rankings, making it easier mentally to go a bit deeper in the contender mix to find value. I bet this way for years at the Meadowlands and survived solely on racing income til about 2006 when I moved home to care for mom.

In MY opinion racing has changed big time and I honestly don't know if I could be a winning player TODAY. I certainly don't "want it" bad enough to even try with my life being so different (good) now. Winning consistently takes extremely hard WORK and dedication as I am sure you know. Outside of a bets up at Saratoga that day Karen and I went there to meet everyone I have not made a bet in over a year.

Test this and see if the "look" helps you man! Very best to you Ernie

Fat 19 buck winner , exacta and trifecta make up the top 3 here.

Top ranked #4 wins but at very low odds, wagercappers lose here.

Once again the top ranked buck wins but this $7.40 mutual gets wagercappers a nice win (Doc's prescribed minimum odds of 5/2)

My 5th tiered #2 wins at 7/2 so this is definitely a wagercapping loss.

Fat 8/1 winning # 8 is nowhere on my mix, certainly a loss here.

Well that was 5 races with 2 definite winners paying $19.00 and $7.40.

40% wins betting 2 horses with an outlay of $20.00 and a return of $26.40. When I was playing full time at the track wanna guess what my TWO horse win % was for YEARS? Yup 40%(Bill V saw dozens of my 20 race cycle worksheets back then) :)

That's right I remember reading in the "Follow-Up" to look at V/DC as TIERS.
Did I follow his advice...........NOOOOOO. Racing may have changed but the Methodology is alive
and well today and there is no doubt in my mind that if you choose to get back into the game you will DEFINITLY be a winning player.

I have no problem altering my approach, trying new ideas, using new tools...
whatever gets the best results.
