While I also like the :3: in the Big A opener, BOTH the qualifying lines come from tracks that transfer TOO fast to other tracks (PHA, and Presque Island Downs)
The saving grace on this one is to find out that older Woodbine lines (lines 6,7) STILL rank this one near the top.

clore1030 12-03-2008 11:48 AM

Interesting - following Sunday's gate malfunction, today the tote board (on TV) is out of whack. It's showing the 5 horse highlighted as being the favorite, yet it's presently the fourth betting choice.

Oh - I'll be going with the 3 horse in the first also.

mikesal57 12-03-2008 12:24 PM

hi guys..

i know that the Inner track likes speed...but I see the 3 & 8 and maybe the 6 up there too..so I;m doing a win/pace on the 7..

good luck

mike

No,the AQU inner made life easy for the three. Fits the e/l like a glove.

This is the track where I discovered Style over Substance: style will trump total energy all the time

Let's see if it holds up for the 4 in the second race. I've got 4-1-2 real close on BL score, but the 4 gets the top EP with what should be about a length advantage at the second call.

yes 1-4

Tim Y 12-03-2008 12:53 PM

The inner is the MOST speed biased track of them all now with the demise of old Keeneland. It stays that way all Winter getting MORE so when the weather is worse.

Charlie D 12-03-2008 12:56 PM

Track played no part in #3 winning imo, but if others think otherwise then fine by me

No, baby matured. HAD everything to itself with no pressure last out and improved on tapped reserves never exposed before.

Hang around rookie and keep an e/l record before you begin harping on what you don't know.

Mine extends SEVEN years...CORRECT that.nine years and it says the same day in day out.

Charlie D 12-03-2008 01:11 PM

Don't need records to see the obvious

:7: towers over this field but is in decline. :6: figures late as well even old :5: has some speed

Keeping records differentiates the pro from the pretender in this game chief.

If the reading of the good works Chaos, Complexity and The Tao of Physics did anything, it was to realize there is a level of order unbeknown to the naked eye.

Bad start by 7 followed by terrible trip (ride?) allowed that to happen imo.

You don't think so Charlie? I saw two contenders at his throat halfway up the backstretch, and a stubborn foe through much of the stretch.

Seems the STEWARDS thought enough about it to review the entire thing as well and still had enough in the tank to come in 4th beaten about three lengths.

Tim Y 12-03-2008 01:40 PM

:7: is certainly a vulnerable favorite here as it will have to come from the clouds over :3: :10:

:9: is in serious decline as well as appears the favorite. Three caught a super fast pace out last.

TOO bad I don't play the super

Tim Y 12-03-2008 02:06 PM

When the rail horse was right, he would walk all over this field but he is a Pizzolla SNAIL: Shown Nothing After It's Layoff

Appears to be a field of questionable damaged (to one degree or another) goods....

On the e/l alone, and this is not the race to base it exclusively on, the 3, and 8 would be the choice but not too much inspires confidence here.

I've got a good reading also on the 8, but agree that this a weak field. Still, 20/1 makes it tempting. It's one of those lesser of evils races.

Charles

a horse 1/2 - 3/4 length behind is not applying pressure on leader as it's not making leader run quicker than it wants to

Eyeball to Eyeball, head to head, trying to overtake is putting on pressure

No horse did this until halfway round home bend and because of this, winner had enough left to fight off it's competition

tfm 12-03-2008 02:16 PM

Against better judgment, with the rail speed bias thing going on today at AQU, going to take shot with #10, Charging Hero, in R5. Price is decent.

Tim Y 12-03-2008 02:17 PM

how about :3:,:4: Hawthorne first. NOT my best race course so this in just an observation

Only closer inspection the :5: looks like a play

That would be a price!!

CONGRATS, this one was a hard race to read.

Nets 12-03-2008 02:20 PM

Agree the 10 looks possible, but as you said, that goes against what we've seen so far today. But a price nonetheless.

Nets 12-03-2008 02:24 PM

Well done TFM! I bailed when it fell below 5/1.

tfm 12-03-2008 02:26 PM

Damn, I bet the horse when they were loading at 4:1.

What a hit he took.

Tim Y 12-03-2008 02:28 PM

what track is PLN in the Midwest???????????

* National Liberal Party, Partido Liberal Nacional, a political party of Panama
* National Liberation Party, Partido Liberación Nacional, a political party of Costa Rica

Nice job, congrats.

clore1030 12-03-2008 02:42 PM

Sixth race, splitting the bet between the 2 and the 3. not crazy about the odds on the latter, but he looks good.

Not to change the subject, but there's a great movie on TCM tonight: THE ROCKING HORSE WINNER. It doesn't air too often, so check it out.

Tim Y 12-03-2008 02:42 PM

inside posts look dominant on the soft going in the 6th 2,3,1

This is a surface so rare to these horses that the :8: might get out there and, literally, SLIP away as the closing moves of the two and three are from WAY back

Tim Y 12-03-2008 02:51 PM

Energy dynamics of wet grass are about the same as dry grass methinks

Hope you were on the exacta; especially with the lower than expected odds on the 2.

For once I did just that since I really preferred the 2, I just boxed him with the 3. I was at first just going to put it all on 2 to place, but at the last minute while putting in the bet, a voice told me to try an exacta instead.

I may not bet an exacta again for years, but I just had to listen to the voice, I'm a big believer in that. Sometimes it tells me to pass, even as I'm about to make the wager. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, I listen.

Once it told me to wager on a horse in the Belmont, only because it was announced he was wearing mud calks. The voice said "Joe Cantey knows when to use them" and Temperance Hill won and paid over 50/1.
