The grand canyon or Niagara Falls is awesome. Not many things qualify for that descriptive tern

It's not in short supply at Aqueduct recently. Today's eighth had "Awesome Ashley" and "Awesome Chic" running.

On February 4, "Awesome Ashley" ran third to a winner named "Awesome I Am."

Years ago, there were more horses to whom I could apply the word as an adjective - Secretariat, Forego, Seattle Slew, John Henry. Not many in recent in recent memory have caused that word to roll off my tongue.

When I watched documentaries on the building of the Brooklyn Bridge or the Empire State Building, the word came to mind - these days (and no exaggeration), it took five years to renovate a nearby subway station.
