Second this is a Spot play of Jim Bradshaw's as explained in the Matchup Forum.

Actually, Bill L's method is not exactly the same as Jim Bradshaw's as
explained in the Matchup forum.

I too use the Method for Marathon races, but as put forth in the Matchup
Forum.

Go read it in the Forum, Spot play#4. No excel sheet needed.

You're new to this site, so I'm going to take your post with a grain of salt.

Bill L puts a lot of effort into what he does, whether you agree with it or not.

In case you haven't noticed, the primary goal "here", is to help others, which is exactly what Bill L is trying to do and I know there are many members that are grateful for his efforts.

In the future, perhaps you can do the same thing, rather than being demeaning of what someone else is doing.

Regarding Freedom Child's paceline from Belmont Park.

Even though, the paceline is from a distance of a mile and an eighth, it is run around one turn. Thus, the internal fractions and the final times are faster than times run at traditional tracks where the distance is run around two turns.

This unique situation compares to the mile and a half turf races run at Santa Anita where the starting gate is placed on top of the hilltop grass course. The first quarter mile or so is run downhill.

Dale Romans cross-entered Little Mike in the Breeder's Cup Turf and the Mile turf. Some ex-jockeys ( I think Gary Stevens was one of the jockeys)who were working on the Breeder's Cup television coverage made strong arguments to convince Dale Romans to enter the BC Turf at the marathon distance of a mile and a half. The main supporting argument was Little Mike's early speed was advantageous due to the starting gate being placed on top of the hillside turf course at Santa Anita. Try running downhill to experience the "gravity effect" like one has an extra gear.

The Belmont paceline requires "some adjustment" for the race is run around "one turn."

I am expressing my humble opinion....;)

Lone Speed:

Point well taken and one that I had not factored into the Match Up but it reinforces why Freedom Child gets tossed - slower early vs Palace Malice puts him in deeper debt.
